Caramel

We were exploring the cobblestoned streets of a country town on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. My Argentinian friends gasped as I explained in Spanglish that I’d in fact never tried dulce de leche – a popular Argentine sweet that (as I was about to discover) should be eaten at all times whenever possible; preferably with a spoon straight from a two-litre tub. I experienced its caramel goodness for the first time in this beautiful, European-style town square, and realised at last I’d been living in ignorance my whole life. 2018.
